Robert Rankin in conversation with Mark Stay at Horley Library

(Part of the Author Events at Surrey Libraries)

Robert Rankin will be joining Mark Stay at Horley Library, Surrey, to talk about Richard Dadd's painting The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, and other Victorian fairy paintings and their influence on Robert's work, both literary and Illustrative.

Interestingly both Robert and Terry Pratchett wrote novels referencing The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke (it also inspired others too, including Freddy Mercury, who Robert used to play chess with when they were both students at Ealing School of Art, back in the good old 1960s).

The Wee Free Men and The Witches of Chiswick were both published in 2003 and neither author knew what the other was doing until a reader pointed out the coincidence.

Robert is a wonderful character and so much fun to listen to. Well worth going to this one !
