Artemis Fowl is a criminal genius. What makes this impressive is that he is just 12 years old and he has just discovered that fairies are real. He finds that he has crossed the wrong elf when he captures Captain Holly Short. He soon finds that fairies can fight back.
This young adult series is hugely entertaining and a bit lighter than some of the books we've recommended so far. If you like juvenile humour such as fart jokes (there are loads) you should find this a lot of fun.
