Today's recommendation is: Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
Howl's Moving Castle is the first in the Land of Ingary Trilogy, the other two books are Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways.
The story has the reader follow Sophie Hatter who has caught the attention of the Witch of the Waste and ends up being put under a curse by the witch.
Sophie decides that her only course of action is to make her way to the moving castle of the Wizard Howl, but there are rumours that the Wizard Howl likes to devour the souls of young girls.
Sophie meets Howl's apprentice Michael and Calcifer the Fire Demon with whom she agrees a pact, but it turns out that Sophie isn't the only one under a curse… Her quest to break her curse and her interactions with Michael, Howl and Calcifer are hilarious and captivating.
Rachel came to the book after watching the most excellent animated feature by the famous Studio Ghibli. The book explores so much more of Howl's world and is well worth seeking out.
