Today's recommendation is Tank Girl - Tank Girl All Stars.
Rachel loves the Tank Girl series created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett (Jamie also created the band Gorillaz with Damon Albarn) so much that she has cosplayed her many times and has even opened an actual tank exhibition dressed as her.
The book, Tank Girl All Stars celebrates 30 years of tales about Fonzie Rebecca Buckler, Booga and Tank Girl's friends featuring art from many of the Tank Girl illustrators and it's just one of many Tank Girl tomes on our shelves.
Tank Girl is set mainly in a post apocalyptic world with many popular culture references dotted within the pages of the various books. Originally a comic strip within Deadline Magazine back in the late 1980's, Tank Girl eventually had those strips collected in book form by Penguin publishing and the rest is history. By 1995, the sale of the movie rights occurred and resulted in Tank Girl: the movie which starred Lori Petty as Tank Girl, if you haven't seen it then go find it, it's worth watching!
Alan Martin is still producing Tank Girl books with various artists and he also runs the Tank Girl Merchandise store which Rachel purchases from quite often.
