Day 7's recommendation is The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien.
I was about eleven when I received a copy of the Hobbit. It came bundled with the computer game of the same name - which I found very frustrating. So I read the book instead. I was soon enjoying the adventure of Bilbo Baggins and the Dwarfs as they set off on their adventures. It was the first time I'd read a grown up book with Elves, Dragons and Wizards and I fell in love with the fantasy genre.
The Hobbit is the great, great, grandfather of fantasy for me. It is the template that fantasy grew out of. If you love fantasy why not go back to where, for many of us, it first began?
