[Board Game News] Kill Sam Vimes and Readers Digested

Modiphius has been busy in the background creating two new tabletop games for us all to enjoy based on the works of Terry Pratchett.

We announced both of these back in Nov 2025 and at the UK Games Expo last weekend, the world saw the first glimpses of the games with demos being played with attendees all weekend.

The games are called Kill Sam Vimes - The card game and Readers Digested : A Discworld Board Game.

Both of these will be going straight to retail

We were fortunate enough to have the wonderful Shell Bowlder attend and provide us with these fabulous photos of both games.

Box art for Kill Sam Vimes

Description from the publishers:

Sir Samuel Vimes, Duke of Ankh and Commander of the City Watch, is officially too important to assassinate. Eliminating him would cause more trouble than it’s worth. Naturally, that makes him the perfect practice target.

Each year, the Assassins’ Guild sends its most promising apprentices into the streets of Ankh-Morpork to attempt the impossible: get close enough to Kill Sam Vimes! In this competitive strategy game for 2–4 players, each player controls a House of apprentice assassins. Use Multi-Use Action Cards and maneuver through the city of Ankh-Morpork, avoid Vimes’ traps, and outscore your rivals before your House is wiped out.

You can’t kill Sam Vimes, but you can look spectacular trying!

With box art featuring Paul Kidby's infamous image of Sam Vimes, this card game will be available to pre-order in June.

Readers Digested : A Discworld Board Game

Description from the publishers:

Reading Week has arrived, and it’s the most terrifying time in the Unseen University calendar!

Panicked wizards-in-training have stormed the Library in a last-minute frenzy of panic-studying, and naturally, everything has gone horribly wrong!

Shelves are empty, rogue tomes are on the prowl, carnivorous books are hunting in packs, and the students themselves are… Ah, well… being students.

As one of the Assistant Librarians, it’s your thankless duty to restore order: rescue those wandering trouble magnets, wrangle the wayward books, and get them out of the Library and on their way to their exams, all while navigating L-Space and coping with a worrying shortage of bananas. As one of the four assistant librarians of the Unseen University, on your turn, you move to different locations to reshelve runaway books by collecting book cards.

You can also play these cards to take extra actions: strengthen your book collections, move more efficiently through L-Space, rescue students faster, or bring Faculty Members to your location to gain bananas, which you can offer to the Librarian in exchange for his help!

Complete section tiles on your own or together with other players to earn cards, bananas, and most importantly, to rescue those helpless students.

Once you’ve gathered a group of students, lead them to the exit. Be the first to usher out enough of them to win the Librarian’s favor… and the game!
