1. Editorial
Welcome to issue 13 of Better Than a Poke in the Eye. Can you believe the newsletters have been back for a year now. We've just come off a very successful year of Disctober (something we started back in 2020). We were blown away by some of the art that was produced you really are a talented bunch.
Watch out on our socials over the new few weeks as we produce some gift recommendations for the geeks in your life (you can included yourself as said geek if you wish). We'll work out things that we would like to find in our stockings once the Hogfather has been to visit.
We look forward to seeing Stephen Briggs' play A Trip on the Stage in the middle of November. You will be able to read our review shortly after.
We've added a couple of new stage adaptation this month and we really enjoyed going to the Worcester Museum's After Dark event based on Discworld. Various cocktails and mocktails were available to purchase and a DJ "The Grand Fromage" was playing a selection of classic Discworld inspired songs such as Blue Oyster Cults' classic Don't Fear the Reaper. I was there as Rincewind and Rachel was there as an assassin. We had great fun talking to people about Terry and listening to stories of how Terry's words helped or inspired them. Rincewind may have also got in a lot of photos and selfies.
We'll catch you next month for the final newsletter of 2025.
Have a great month,
Jason
