Newsletter 15 - December 2025 - Better Than a Poke in the Eye

1. Editorial
Welcome to the December issue on Better Than a Poke in the Eye. Due to unfortunate circumstances this relatively short newsletter is coming to you a few days later than intended.
This issue is dedicated to my father David George Anthony who passed unexpectedly just before Christmas. We are all still in limbo as we wait for the world to wake up again and issue relevant paperwork etc.
Once again we planned to do things in December but they never materialised. Give us a couple of months and we'll be back up and running properly again.
Happy new year all,
Jason

Thank you as always, Jason and Rachel, for keeping STP's torch alight - I was glad to see the inclusion of the Agatha Christie books by Roger Hargreaves in the latest BTAPITE newsletter...
You probably are aware (but just in case...) he has also done, starting in 2017, a Doctor Who series - Doctor First, Doctor Second, etc. through Doctor Thirteenth... I find that most of my friends here in the American wilderness who know Discworld also know the Doctor, and vice-versa, the crossover is significant. Just thought I'd mention it...
On another note, we had the privilege a couple weeks ago of attending a 50th Anniversary showing of Monty Python & The Holy Grail attended, introduced and commented on by Sir John Cleese himself (in the flesh!) - someone asked him during the Q&A if he saw connections to and influences in Sir Terry's work from Monty Python - he snorted, said "naturally" but left it at that... time ran out before anyone could follow that up, but I am awaiting an email reply from Mr. Cleese hoping he can elaborate; I will share that should I get any juicy info...
Cheers, friends, all the best for Hogswatch and the other sundry holidays...

BetterThan replies: Thanks for your letter and apologies for not getting back sooner. Rachel loves her Mr Men and Little Miss books and we are always on the lookout for early editions where the artwork is slightly more raw! Happy Hogswatch!
