Newsletter 18 - March 2026 - Better Than a Poke in the Eye

1. Editorial
Welcome to the latest issue of Better Than the monthly newsletter of Better Than a Poke in the Eye. Rachel and I are back home, hot off the heals of The Hogs Ball at Llamedos Holiday Camp. We had a huge amount of fun interacting with our wonderful campers. We think everyone enjoyed themselves, we'll know more when we've had chance to fully recover. I don't think may people realise just how much time and physical and mental effort goes into running an event like Llamedos and it doesn't just stop because the event is over.
We'll make an announcement about the future of Llamedos Holiday Camp on the first of July 2026. Keep an eye out on our socials and on our website
We are still processing all the photos and videos from the event. Please bear with us as this might take a while.
If you were one of our campers and fancy writing a review for the Better Than a Poke website and newsletter please let us know via the info@betterthanapokeintheeye.co.uk email address.
What else is happening?
Hotel bookings will soon go on sale for the International Discworld Convention. The Australian Discworld Convention is about to kick off this month and we've got a couple of Discworld plays coming up soon. We look forward to seeing Carpe Jugulum at the Gate Theatre in Cardiff next week. We are going on the Thursday night - if you see us pop over and say hello!
Stephen Briggs will be doing a talk entitled "The Theatrical Legacy of Terry Pratchett" in Goring-on-Thames in June. Tickets for that should now be on sale.
That's all for this month folks, we'll speak again at the start of May.
Jason and Rachel
