Welcome to issue 17 of Better Than. This month we have mostly been very busy preparing for Llamedos Holiday Camp which takes place in just a few days. (6th - 8th March 2026)

If you've missed out all the announcements we have a number (7 at the time of writing) of tickets on the waiting list looking for a new home.

Sad news for those that attended the early Discworld Events in Wincanton. Frank Foster, then mayor of Wincanton was fundamental in getting Wincanton Twinned with Ankh-Morpork has recently passed away aged 85. Frank was definitely a feature of those very fun events and was very much a character. Once met you were unlikely to forget him.

We at Better Than a Poke were upset to read that one half of the writers of the Red Dwarf TV series, Rob Grant has died. Jason remembers watching the very first episode of Red Dwarf when it was first broadcast. And Rachel remembers visiting the studio and watching Red Dwarf being filmed.

Rob Grant along with Doug Naylor created the seminal comedy science fiction series that we all love to quote.

We understand that Rob died in his jeep.¹

By now you've probably seen the trailer for Good Omens 3 which gets its official release on Wednesday 13th May 2026.

It's probably time for us to watch season 2 of Good Omens as we never got round to it when it first came out! We'll add that to the list of things we'd like to do once we return from Llamedos.

The Amazing Maurice - The Waters of Life cast announced.

The team behind The Amazing Maurice made an announcement this evening about the lovely cast for THE AMAZING MAURICE TWO: THE WATERS OF LIFE.

Joining Hugh Laurie as Maurice, Emilia Clarke as Malicia, Himesh Patel as Keith, and Ariyon Bakare, Gemma Arterton and David Tennant as the Clan Rats, alongside Peter Serafinowicz as Death, are Lucy Punch, Katherine Parkinson, Simon Callow and Adjoa Andoh.
